Duke is made entirely from premium Italian full-grain leather, crafted into a loafer designed for a relaxed, open fit and long-term comfort. The leather is soft from day one and begins to mold to your foot within the first few wears.
Hand-sewn in a small family workshop in Portugal with over a century of moccasin experience, Duke sits on a zero-drop base with a natural foot shape. It gives more room around the toes while keeping the familiar loafer look, a classic outline with a more modern feel.
The EVA B-Light sole has a 13 mm thickness, so it won’t flex like a minimal barefoot shoe, but the structure eases with wear and begins to move more naturally over time. Because the upper is stitched to a leather welt, the outsole can be replaced by a skilled cobbler when worn down, extending the life of the shoe.

A lot of barefoot shoes that I’ve tried are comfy, but none of them feel as well-made as these Dolfy loafers. Definitely worth the price, couldn’t recommend it more :)
I switched to foot-shaped footwear around 2024 and spent a considerable amount of time thoroughly scanning the market for sneakers, boots, and more refined shoes suitable for special occasions, business settings, or everyday wear. Finding decent sneakers is relatively easy, and even boots are not particularly hard to come by. However, once you start looking for elegant loafers, the market becomes surprisingly sparse. I tested numerous models from brands like Barebarics and Ohne Project. While most of them look acceptable “for a barefoot shoe”, the real drawback quickly becomes apparent in the materials and craftsmanship. Artificial leathers and rather disappointing build quality were, unfortunately, a recurring theme. At one point, I was even considering having my old Adrian loafers professionally converted into a foot-shaped form. Then Dolfie began teasing their Heritage Collection — and everything changed. The Duke is exactly the shoe I had been searching for over the past two years. Outstanding build quality, genuine leather, and a design that looks fantastic not just for a barefoot shoe, but simply as a great shoe, period. On top of that, they are incredibly comfortable. Their versatility is what truly sets them apart: they work effortlessly across virtually any occasion and can be dressed up or down with ease. What further elevates them is the fact that they are fully resoleable — a rare and valuable feature that not only sets them apart from most competitors but also makes them a genuinely sustainable long-term investment. As you can imagine, I’m quite a fan of the construction and overall quality, which is why I couldn’t resist getting them in both brown and black. ?
