MC5 V2, Supersonic V2, and Dylan V2: What’s New

Over the past year, we’ve learned a great deal from your feedback and from seeing how each model performs over time. We’ve used that insight to guide every update.

The MC5, Supersonic and Dylan return in updated V2 versions. Their familiar shapes remain, while the lasts, construction and materials have been refined for a better fit, improved durability and a lighter, more flexible feel.

Here’s what’s changed in each model.

MC5 V2

Handcrafted in a family-run workshop in Portugal, each pair requires around an hour of skilled work.

MC5 has been one of our most popular models from the beginning. For V2, we kept its familiar shape and focused on how it feels and wears.

The sole has been redesigned to be slightly lighter and more flexible. We’ve also lowered the sidewall, allowing the shoe to bend more naturally and reducing tension on the upper at its main flex points.

For the leather styles, we’ve chosen a slightly more structured leather that keeps its finish for longer. It may feel a little firmer at first, but will soften and mold to your foot with wear.

Supersonic V2

Supersonic V2 keeps almost the same measurements, with 3 mm of extra width through the midfoot and a little more room over the instep for a better-balanced fit.

We’ve also developed a new sole specifically for the model. Its main body is slightly softer for greater flexibility, while the lugged tread is firmer to withstand abrasion and everyday wear.

The result is a slightly lighter and flexible sole with a more resistant tread.

Dylan V2

Dylan and MC5 share the same sole, so Dylan V2 receives the same update: it is slightly lighter and more flexible.

We’ve also refined several details inside and out for a cleaner finish and a better fit.

In short, it’s the Dylan you already know, now a little lighter, more flexible and more refined.

Two new silhouettes

The collection also introduces two new silhouettes: Starman and Supersonic R86.

Starman shares the same last and sole as MC5, so the fit is similar. Its upper draws on classic training shoes, with a lower-profile and more understated look.

Supersonic R86 shares the same last and sole as Supersonic V2. Its retro, running-inspired upper combines suede and recycled nylon, finished with leather details.

Collection highlights

Available up to EU size 47

Almost the entire collection is available in sizes EU 36 to EU 47.

New insoles

Each pair now includes two removable gel insoles, lined with high-quality natural leather with no chemical treatments:

  • 2 mm, for a more barefoot feel.
  • 6 mm, for extra cushioning without losing that natural feel.

If you preferred the cushioning of our previous 8 mm insole, you can use both new insoles together for a very similar feel.

This lets you adapt each pair to your preferences and choose between more cushioning or a more minimal feel.

Updated Size Guide

We’ve made small adjustments to the measurements and insole thickness of the MC5 V2, Supersonic V2 and Dylan V2, so we’ve updated the size guide for each model.

If you own an earlier version, your usual size will probably still be right. However, we recommend checking the new guide or using our "Find Your Size" tool before ordering.

A note on care and durability

Barefoot shoes are designed to bend and move naturally with your feet. Because the materials flex more than those used in conventional footwear, some creasing where the foot bends is completely normal.

For these V2 versions, we focused on balancing flexibility, comfort and durability.

Simple care will also help preserve their shape. Use shoe trees, or put the paper inserts back inside after each wear. Avoid taking your shoes off by stepping on the heel with the other foot, as this can damage the structure over time.

You can find more recommendations in our care guide.

A Note for Heritage Lovers

Although this post focuses on Barefoot New Era, we didn’t want to finish without sharing a few updates on our Zero Drop Heritage line.

The collection is here to stay, and now that orders are open, many sizes are available again. Toward the end of September, Deck Black and Deck Camel will return, along with a new version of the Duke in Black and Brown Leather, featuring a slightly more flexible sole and a padded heel.

We’re also working on a new boot style, although it’s still too early to share a release date.

We hope this guide gives you a clearer picture of what’s new. If you have any questions, we’re always happy to help.

Enjoy the new collection.
